Instructor Joe Chao has been training and teaching martial arts and fitness since the 1980s and brings decades of real-world experience, knowledge, and passion to every class he teaches. Over the years, he has trained extensively throughout the United States and Asia, studying and mastering multiple systems of martial arts and self-defense.

With training in eight different martial arts disciplines, Instructor Joe is an advanced instructor in Kid’s Kickboxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Israeli Krav Maga, Police Defensive Tactics, Israeli Combat Weapons, Active Shooter Response, Krav Maga VIP & Security Programs, Hung Gar Kung Fu, and KIKBOXFIT.

Known for his energetic and motivating teaching style, Instructor Joe’s classes are always fun, exciting, and action-packed. His programs are designed to help students of all ages build confidence, improve fitness, and learn practical, reality-based self-defense skills in a safe and controlled environment.

Instructor Julien Chao has been training in martial arts since the age of 5 and has dedicated his life to developing his skills, discipline, and passion for teaching. Having trained in two different martial arts styles and across several states throughout the USA, Julien brings a wide range of experience and knowledge to every class he teaches.

Julien is a certified instructor under Buck Grant's Muay Thai University and specializes in both Kid’s Kickboxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing. His teaching style combines high-energy training with a positive and encouraging atmosphere that keeps students motivated and excited to learn.

Known for his fun, exciting, and action-packed classes, Instructor Julien helps students train like real fighters in a safe and controlled environment. Whether you are looking to improve your confidence, learn authentic Muay Thai techniques, or get into incredible fighter-fit shape, his classes deliver an experience that is both challenging and rewarding — all without getting hurt.

Bella Mckechnie
TINY TIGERS AND KIDS KICKBOXING
Bella Mackechnie is one of the friendly faces that children and parents love seeing at Hendokickboxing. As our resident Tiny Tigers Preschool instructor and one of our Kid’s Kickboxing coaches, Bella brings energy, positivity, and enthusiasm to every class she teaches.

Known for her constant smile and warm personality, Bella has a natural ability to connect with children of all ages. She creates a fun, safe, and encouraging environment where students can build confidence, learn new skills, and have an amazing time doing it. Her classes are always exciting, engaging, and age-appropriate, making every child feel comfortable and motivated to participate.

Whether she’s teaching our preschool Tiny Tigers or coaching our Kid’s Kickboxing students, Bella’s passion for working with children shines through in every class. Your child will look forward to seeing her each week and will leave class smiling, energized, and excited to come back again.

ALEXA ARNOLD
WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE
Alexa has been a student of martial arts and yoga for many years. She holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt Instructor in Shaolin Kempo as well as a Krav Maga student. She teaches our Women's Only Self Defense Workshops that are all formulated from a woman's perspective. Alexa is a Level 1 Krav Maga coach who has been training in Krav Maga since 2021.
Her art, Shaolin Kenpo Karate, is a martial art style that combines the Five Animals of Shaolin Kung Fu, the core competency of Kempo, the hard-hitting linear explosiveness of traditional Karate, as well as the power of Western boxing and the felling and grappling arts of Jujutsu, Chin Na, and Mongolian wrestling.
